1. Walk beside those who are empowered to lead others and not behind them.
2. Trust their authority but not implicitly.
3. Always question the actions of those who lead others and dare to challenge their authority when their actions are not in the best interests of everyone.
4. If those who lead are allowed to be transparent, they will deceive you.
5. Hold those who lead others accountable, instead. This is the real burden of leadership.
6. Repay the accountability of those who lead with guarded loyalty and an inquisitive mind. This is the real burden of citizenship.
